# Installation of PBX gateway and Asterisk

Download Ubuntu iso from this link and install as new VM

[https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04.3/ubuntu-22.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso](https://releases.ubuntu.com/22.04.3/ubuntu-22.04.3-live-server-amd64.iso)

Download Asterisk 20

[https://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/asterisk-20-current.tar.gz](https://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/asterisk/asterisk-20-current.tar.gz)

follows this guide to install Asterisk on Ubuntu

(dont forget to add chan\_sip in the menuselect step)

After following the manual we need to apply the following steps to use SIP instead of pjsip

1\) edit this file: /etc/asterisk/modules.conf

add this part in drivers

load = [chan\_sip.so](http://chan_sip.so/?hsLang=en)

2\) change the pjsip binding to another port that 5060 by editing this file:

/etc/asterisk/pjsip.conf

3\) change the sip binding to port 5060 by editing this file:

/etc/asterisk/sip.conf
